John Scott Park on Station Street in Samford Village is an ideal location to take the kids for a BBQ lunch and play. Located in the heart of Samford Village, the John Scott Park offers segmented playgrounds for smaller kids, bigger kids and is bordered on two sides by green space – ideal for a little family footy or cricket.

With a covered barbeque area overlooking the toddler space, wheelchair accessible toilets and plenty of space for picnicking, this park is a much loved family destination in Samford Village. The partially enclosed toddler area boasts a variety of slides, rockers, low climbing structures as well as shaded seating for mum and dad. Perhaps its biggest draw card is the gorgeous red train that children can board, drive and climb all over. It’s a great park for little ones with a train obsession! Bigger kids will love the rope climb structures, climbing walls and slides. They’ll also love the inward facing swing set, where kids can swing towards each other.

Cycling and walking around Samford

Samford’s best kept secret is the walking and cycling paths that snake around and through the township. Take the bikes and head over to Baden Powell park (via Cash Avenue) for a ride or stroll through the bush. Samford Parklands Trail is also a terrific place to take the family on a relaxing bike ride. Opposite John Scott Park sits Urban Dweller, the mecca for all things cool and quirky in home décor – housed inside a stunning old church no less! Nearby you’ll find high street boutiques, arts and antique stores and there’s not a mega retail chain to be seen. Bliss.

Getting to Samford from Brisbane

If you’re planning a day trip from Brisbane with your kids, Samford makes a great, fun filled family destination. Just thirty minutes from the heart of Brisbane (closer from the northern suburbs) Samford is accessible via Kelvin Grove Road, South Pine Road or via Eaton’s Crossing Road if you’re coming from the north.
