With G'Day Adventure Tours, you can visit a little slice of beach paradise with our Bribie Island 4WD, Beach & WWII Bunker Tour just 40 minutes north of Brisbane CBD.

What to Expect on Your Tour

The tour starts with a guided drive along Bribie beach, stopping in at the Norfolk & Mermaid Lagoons. These areas provide a fantastic opportunity to take a quick dip, take some pictures with friends, and even spot some iconic Australian wildlife and scenery. From Mermaid Lagoon, we'll jump back in the 4WD and head north to our next destination, Fort Bribie.

At the WWII Bunkers, otherwise known as Fort Bribie, you'll be viewing and learning about the history of the bunkers that were built in the 1940's. With plenty of time to explore the structures, we recommend taking your time to learn as much as you can because one day they may cease to exist.

After the WWII Fort Bribie tour, we'll start to head south, keeping in mind to keep a look-out for local dolphins and dugongs.

The tour ends by returning you to your original pickup point.

The Locations

Bribie Island

Bribie Island is a small sand island sheltering the northern part of Moreton Bay. With lots of fun, sand and sun, Bribie is known for great surf beaches and an abundance of Australian wildlife. Connected to the mainland of Australia by a bridge, Bribie Island is 34 kilometres long and 8km at it's widest point. From humble beginnings of just 600 residents, Bribie Island is now populated with more than 17,000 people. Boasting itself as one of the only Australian islands you don't need a boat to reach, Bribie Island is also a hub of activity, with local vendors and stores setting up shop for residents and tourists alike, including a Seaside Museum and Twin Theatre. It is also protected as a national parkland, and the waterway between the mainland and the island (Pumicestone Passage), is protected as an environmentally significant wetland.

Lagoons

The two lagoons visited during your tour are known as Norfolk Lagoon and Mermaid Lagoon. They are popular spots for kayaking and other water activities and are suitable for all ages.

Fort Bribie

Bribie Island Second World War Fortifications are a group of heritage-listed bunkers at Woorim and Bribie Island North. Built between 1939-1943, the bunkers were listed as a world heritage site in 1993. Due to the erosion of the island, it is likely these structures will descend into the ocean and no longer be accessible.
